UPON ARRIVAL CALL 828-707-2174 AND LET US KNOW YOU HAVE ARRIVED FOR YOUR BOAT.

You can leave your vehicle here overnight or make other arrangements with John to store it on his private property down the road. Please text John your ETA the morning of your arrival. Once you arrive at Canal Bridge Access, text John and he will head your way (it’s about 10 minutes from his dock to your location). So please unload your luggage near the dock and then park your vehicle. Take your luggage to the end of the dock and he will meet you there. During weekends and holidays, this area is very busy, so it’s important to be ready to get on the boat once he arrives.

PICK UP12 PM

RETURN: 10 AM ($25 fee for every 15 minutes you are late) – Check-out instructions

OVERNIGHT: Overnight – because the boat is not docked, you have several options for your overnight stay. Most guests choose to pull up onto one of the beautiful, public beaches (John will point you toward a few). Note that there is no camping or fires allowed on the public beaches, but you are allowed to stay in the boat overnight. You can also moor to the dock at the Old Lake James State Park which offers nice restroom facilities nearby. A final option is to reserve a boat-in campsite at Lake James State Park if one is available – https://northcarolinastateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/lake-james-state-park/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NC&parkId=552855. This provides a private campsite and access to the state park facilities. However, these beach areas are not as nice as the public beach areas. They are a good option for busier weekends if you want to ensure you have private space or if you need more room to spread out and set up camp. We’ve had feedback both ways – some campers preferred the public beach areas (especially during quieter times, non holidays) and other campers enjoyed the facilities and camping provided by the state park. It’s up to you – if you’re booking on a weekday and non-holiday, there should be plenty of space at the public beaches available.

LIFE JACKETS: Adult life jackets are available on each boat. If you are bringing boaters under the age of 13 we ask that you bring coast guard approved life jackets specifically designed for their age and size.

CASH DEPOSIT: Most passenger boats require a cash deposit of $100 and $50 for fishing boats. This deposit will be returned if boat is returned with a full tank of gas. If not, the cash deposit is kept. Please make sure you have $100 cash when you arrive.

RULES:

  • NEVER DRIVE THE BOAT INTOXICATED OR UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ANY SUBSTANCE THAT IMPAIRS  YOU (including alcohol, illegal substances, prescription medication, or over the counter medication that may make driver drowsy or disoriented)
  • Always make sure that any passenger under the age of 13 is wearing a coast-guard approved life vest while the boat is in motion. We also recommend any passenger who can not swim wear a life vest at all times.
  • Always wear a life vest when swimming from the boat
  • Always leave buoys outside the boat
  • Always practice boater safety, pay attention to other water crafts and persons in the water when operating the boat. Be overly cautious and mind the no wake zones closely.
  • Should you be found in violation of any of the above you will forfeit the remainder of your stay on the boat and money paid
